Types of hosting solutions

A hosting service is related to hoarding and/or sharing specific content on a hosting server handled by a website hosting supplier. There are various groups of hosting services used for different ends, so let's take a glimpse at these. Doing so, you can conclude what you want, depending on whether you wish to establish a website, mail accounts, or to share files with friends and associates.

- File hosting: a service distributed by certain hosts, which enables you to share enormous files. These could be disk images, movies, audio files, archives, etc. This service is also known as file storage, and its only purpose is to share files, since it does not support website uploading. Once the files are uploaded, you will either obtain a randomly created download link for each of them, or you will be able to examine a record of all the files in a directory, but you will not be able to load .html or .php website files in your web browser. Free-of-cost file storage plans are often supported by exhibiting advertisements next to the download links, while a timer forces you to await a specific spell of time to observe them. A single file can be downloaded with limited speed. If you run a paid file storage plan, there are no limits as to how many files you can upload/download instantly, and also there is no restriction when it comes to the download speed or the file size.

At present, with the assistance of the cPanel hosting suppliers, "file hosting" is being renamed to the more voguish "cloud hosting". This is an entirely inappropriate interpretation of the actual definition of "cloud hosting". A real cloud website hosting platform would share the workload between individual sets of hosting servers in a cluster, which are committed to serving different web hosting services (electronic mail, web space, statistics, DNS, databases, web site hosting Control Panel, and so on.) So, the file hosting service is simply a kind of a disk space hosting solution, not a cloud hosting one. It's not even close.

- Image hosting: akin to file hosting; given firms offer a hosting solution for pictures only. This hosting type is good if you desire to share a vast number of images with chums or acquaintances since the solution is mostly free. You will get a random link for every picture or album and you can subsequently share this link. As with the file hosting service, .html and .php files are not compatible, so the service cannot be utilized for websites.

- E-mail hosting: a service dedicated to tackling your e-mailbox accounts. Some companies provide site hosting solutions for sites, but do not supply an e-mail hosting service. If you want to create a mail address with your domain name but do not want to keep a website, then the e-mail hosting service is what you need. You can create email address accounts and administer them, but there will be no web service for the domains. The e-mail hosting service includes incoming POP/IMAP and outgoing SMTP mail servers.

- Video hosting: this service allows you to upload and share videos. You can either share a link to a given video file, or you can embed the video file in your web page that is hosted somewhere else. The advantage of using this method in lieu of uploading the video clip in a hosting account is that the video generates a particular amount of CPU load, so with several video clips and a few hundred website visitors, you may have a hard time with your web hosting resources. Embedding the video file will enable you to keep as many videos as you would like without bothering about system reserves.

- Web page hosting: this is the solution that you require if you want to have a website. To a certain degree, it includes all of the aforesaid hosting variants since, along with your web pages, you can also host images and files, you can set up databases and e-mail box accounts, upload video clips, etc. At The Claypoole Group, for instance, you can view web hosting and dedicated server hosting plans that permit you to get all of the aforesaid solutions in a single location. There may be limitations depending on the kind of hosting solution that you've chosen - a free hosting package, a paid shared hosting account, a VPS or a dedicated server. Depending on that, your webspace hosting plan may be better or worse juxtaposed to the normal email/file/video/image hosting packages that are intended for particular content only.
